The SCHLEIFRING Grinding Symposium - a big success

Grinding in Motion. This was the theme of the SCHLEIFRING Grinding Symposium which took place in Thun / Switzerland in May. More than 1,000 participants per day, 17 stations with live presentations of the latest products and developments by the SCHLEIFRING Group, as well as five technical conferences with a total of 20 lectures by renowned industry experts enabled visitors to experience many interesting ideas and discussions. The trade congress delivered a clear message: the SCHLEIFRING Group continues to focus on technological leadership and is determined to meet the challenges of the global economic and financial crisis with innovative products and perfect performance. ‘Nowadays, the manufacture of high-precision parts requires machine tools which offer absolute quality and reliability as well as tailor-made solutions which are crucial in international competition,’ says Dr Ralf Kammermeier, Managing Director of Körber Schleifring GmbH. Consequently, over the three days, the companies of the SCHLEIFRING Group demonstrated a high level of technical commitment to the international trade visitors at the Expo Thun site. Apart from technical fascination, the live machine presentations in particular offered exciting opportunities for one-to-one discussions with our visitors. For three days, this was the hub of the Grinding Symposium. All in all, the action-packed combination of practical demonstrations and science once again accounted for the special charm of the event as the five technical conferences were also well attended every day. Renowned scientists like Prof. Thomas Straubhaar, head of the Hamburg Institute of International Economics and numerous, top-class experts in machine tools and grinding technology delivered insights into current research. ‘We are very satisfied with the outcome of the Symposium,’ explains Dr Ralf Kammermeier, ‘the organization of this event which is geared towards future technologies has been highly praised by our customers.’
